Ana Zdychava

Ana Zdychava was born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, the only daughter of a low-level bureaucrat in the Ukrainian government. Her mother died when she was relatively young. After secondary school, she became a model and photographer, saving up to attend university.

After amassing as much money as she could, she applied to and was accepted by the University of Kyiv, where she began a study in Psychology in 2008. In early 2010, she was accepted (with help from her father's contacts in the Ukrainian state department) into Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME, with a grant from the University of Kiev to help defray the costs. She plans to finish her Psychology degree and to obtain a degree in Neuroscience as well, returning to teach in Ukraine after she matriculates.

Even with the grant from Ukraine, she is strapped for cash, she doesn't know if she'll have enough for two years at Bowdoin, though she does not have a work permit for the US at this point. She continued to model while attending University in Kyiv, but that does not appear to be an option in Maine, so far.
